Best Car Insurance Companies

by Brian Stevens
Looking for the best car insurance companies? Here's how to find them.

Best Car Insurance Companies

If you've read my previous car insurance articles in EzineArticles.com, you know how to get a great rate on your car insurance. But how do you know the insurance company you purchase your insurance from will be reliable? And how do you know that company will give you good service and pay your claims on time?

Thanks to the Internet there are a number websites that rate insurance companies. Here are four of the best ...

J.D. Power & Associates (jdpower.com)

J.D Power & Associates website provides company ratings based on the opinions of people who actually own insurance policies with those companies. Ratings vary from five circles (their highest rating), to two circles (their worst rating).

This site gives you a good idea of how a company treats its customers, prices it's policies, and pays its claims.

Your State's Department of Insurance Website

Every state has a department of insurance website, and most states publish a list of complaints that have been filed against insurance companies. Complaint ratios tell you how many complaints have been filed against a company for every 1,000 claims. This is a good barometer of how well a company pays its claims.

If your state doesn't publish complaint lists you can visit California's department of insurance website (www.insurance.ca.gov), or New York's department of insurance website (www.ins.state.ny.us) to get this information.

Epinions (epinions.com)

Epinions publishes ratings and reviews from customers who've had dealings with insurance companies. Here you can get the inside scoop on how a company handles its claims and treats its customers.

A.M.Best (ambest.com)

A.M. Best rates insurance companies based on their credit rating and financial strength. These ratings give you a good idea of a company's ability to pay its claims. Ratings vary from A++ to D. Best Car Insurance Rate

Free Car Insurance Quotes - Get the Best Rate Possible

by Brian Stevens
Looking for free car insurance quotes? Want to get the best price possible on your car insurance? Here's how ...

Free Car Insurance Quotes

As you probably know, the best way to save money on your car insurance is to compare quotes from different companies. You can save hundreds, even thousands of dollars a year by simply comparing quotes and purchasing the cheapest policy.

There are a number of ways you can get free car insurance quotes: You can spend a few hours calling local insurance companies. You can a few hours going from one single-company insurance site to another. Or you can spend a few minutes at an insurance comparison website where you'll get quotes from a number of companies in a matter of minutes.

All you have to do to get your free car insurance quotes is fill out a simple form with your driving history, the type of car you're insuring, and the amount of insurance you want, then wait for your quotes.

Some sites even offer an "Articles" section where you can get tips on how to save money on your insurance, and a chat feature where you can get answers to any insurance question you may have from an insurance expert. (See link below.)

Money Saving Tips

Here are the five best ways to save even more money on your car insurance:

Raise your deductible - Your deductible is the amount you're required to pay on a claim before your insurance company will pay. By raising your deductible from $250 to $1,000 you can save anywhere from 15% to 50% on your yearly premium. Just be sure you can afford to pay the deductible.

Consolidate your car insurance - If you have two cars, you can save 10% to 15% with most insurance companies by purchasing both policies through them.

Consolidate your policies - By purchasing your homeowners or renters insurance and your auto insurance through the same insurance company you can save 10% to 15% on your premium.

Drop you collision and comprehensive coverage - If you drive an older car, especially if it's worth less than the cost of your insurance plus your deductible, consider dropping your collision and comprehensive coverage.

Ask for discounts - Insurance companies give discounts for any number of reasons. Before you purchase your car insurance ask your insurer about any discounts your may qualify for and take advantage of all of them.
